UNIT 1:
Various loads andmechanismoftheloadtransfer,partialloadfactors,structuralpropertiesof steel, Design
of structural connections - bolted,rivetedand welded connections.
UNIT 2:
Design of compression members, tensionmembers,roof trusses -angular&tubular,lattice girders.
UNIT 3:
Design of simple beams, built- up beams, plate girders and gantry girders.
UNIT 4:
Effectivelength ofcolumns,designofcolumns-simple andcompound,lacingsandbattens.Design of
footings for steel structures, grillage foundation.
UNIT 5:
Design of industrial building frames, multistory frames, bracings for high rise structures, design of
transmission towers.
NOTE: - All the designs for strength and serviceability should strictly be as per the latest version of
IS:800.
